Ratan Tata Is The Most Powerful CEO In India

MUMBAI – Rata Tata the CEO of Tata Group has been ranked first in the Most Powerful CEOs of India list. Cyrus Mistry who has been appointed as the Vice Chairman and Chairman of Tata Sons has debuted at the fifteenth position in this list. According to the survey done by the Economic Times along with IMRB International ( Indian Market Research Bureau) has brought up the list of 20 Indian business leaders who are the Most Powerful CEOs.

Ratan Tata

Ratan Tata who is the CEO of the Tata Group is at the first position in the Most Powerful CEOs list. His foreign associations include membership of the international advisory boards of the Mitsubishi Corporation, the American International Group, JP Morgan Chase and Booz Allen Hamilton. He is also a member of the board of trustees of RAND Corporation, university of Southern California and Cornell University etc. He has been awarded with the Padma Bhushan in 2000 and Padma Vibhushan in 2008.

Mukesh D Ambani

Mukesh Ambani is the Chairman and Managing Director of the Reliance Industries Limited. In Forbes 2010 he was listed as one of the most powerful people in the world. He is the second richest man in Asia and the 19th richest man in the world. He is the member of the Board of directors of Bank of America Corporation and Council on foreign Relations. He is the second richest sports owner in the world according to the Forbes 2012.

Kumar Mangalam Birla

KM Birla is the Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group and also the Chancellor of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science. He is also the Director of the Group’s international companies in Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Egypt and also Director of the Central Board of directors of Reserve Bank of India. He is the Chairman of the Advisory Committee formed by the Ministry of Company Affairs etc. Birla was The Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005 and was honored with other awards too.

Azim H Premji

Azim Premji is the Chairman of Wipro Limited a software industry. He is the third wealthiest man in India and 41st richest man in the world. In 2000 he was one of the 20 most powerful men in world according to Asiaweek. He was twice listed by Time magazine in the 100 most influential people. In 2005 he was honored with the Padma Bhushan for his work in trade and commerce and in 2011 he was awarded with Padma Vibhushan.

Chanda Kocchar

Chanda Kocchar is the Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Bank and also heads the corporate Centre of ICICI Bank. She was awarded “Retail Banker of the Year” in 2004 by Asian Banker; The Economic Times awarded her with “Business Woman of the Year” in 2005 and “Rising Star Award” in 2006 by Retail Banker International. She has consistently improved on the listings by Fortune as “Most Powerful women in Business” since 2005. She has been honored with Padma Bhushan in 2010 and in 2011 with “ABLF Woman of Power Award” (Asian Business Leadership Forum Awards).

Deepak Parekh

Deepak Parekh is the Chairman of HDFC Bank but he started his career as a chartered accountant for Ernst & Young Management Consultancy Services in New York. Later he was appointed as the Chairman of Advisory Group for Securities Market Regulation and he was also appointed the Chairman of the Expert Committee by the Ministry of Power. Parekh won several awards such as Businessman of the Year in 1996 by Business India and JRD Tata Corporate Leadership Award. He was the youngest recipient of the Corporate Award for Life Time Achievement by the Economic Times. He was also honored by Padma Bhushan.

AM Naik

Naik is the Chairman and Managing Director of Larsen and Toubro Limited. He was awarded with the Padma Bhushan in 2009 and also the Economic Times Awards in 2008. He received many more awrds such as Special Award for Business Leader of the Year by NDTV Profit, Asia Business Leader Award in 2010 by CNBC Asia and Outstanding Business Leader in 2010 by CNBC Asia. He was nominated as the Chairman of IIM Ahmedabad in 2012 and Honorary Consul General for Denmark.

Anand G Mahindra

Mahindra is the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Mahindra and Mahindra. He is a member of Harvard Business School, Government of India and National Institute of Bank Management. He was awarded by Rajiv Gandhi award in 2004 for outstanding contribution in business field, he received the Asia Business Leader Award by CNBC in 2006, Business Leader of the Year by NDTV Profit, Business Leader of the Year by the Economic Times Awards in 2008, Business Leader of the Year by The Asian Awards in 2011 and many more.
