NEW DELHI – India continues to be one of the leading destinations for FDI in service centers. India bagged 105 off shoring projects ,creating  64,370 jobs from 2008-2012.India is ranked number 2 ,with Philippines leading the list in terms of top off shoring destinations ,based on the number of jobs created during this period.

India has been a favorite of the off shoring multinationals seeking to reduce infrastructural and labor costs as per research conducted by Jones Lang Laselle. India had retained the title of topmost off shoring location from 2003 to 2011 (data as per jobs created on annual basis).

When it comes to off shoring business operations to India, the traditional benefits of availability of a large talent pool, lower costs and quick turnaround time, still apply,” says Anuj Puri, chairman and country head, Jones Lang LaSalle India. “However, India is beginning to face stiff competition on the outsourcing front from other markets like China and Indonesia.”

Although, traditionally availability of a low cost labor pool of English speaking population and ready access to real estate and infrastructure has been one of India’s major strengths ,India is now facing challenges  of rising  labor cost, labor retention and currency fluctuation. This has lead to India facing stiff competition from other markets like China and Indonesia.
