On November 6 at Vancouver City Hall, Vancouver’s diverse Muslim Communities commemorated Eid al-Adha. Eid al-Adha is one of the oldest Muslim festivals in Islamic history. It marks the completion of the Hajj and commemorates the story and symbolic sacrifice by Prophet Abraham, the central prophet connecting the histories of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The program featured comments by Mayor Gregor Robertson, comments from BC’s diverse Muslim Communities, as well as comments from the Jewish and Christian communities, and an explanation of the significance of this major Muslim festival. The program was organized by the diverse Muslim communities of Vancouver. Mayor Gregor Robertson addresses the audience during the commemoration of Eid al-Adha at Vancouver City Hall.
