VANCOUVER – Boxing Day delivered something else besides more presents; an earthquake. A mild earthquake rattled parts of British Columbia’s south coast late Wednesday night.

Natural Resources Canada says the 3.3 magnitude shaker occurred at 10:36 p.m. Pacific time on Boxing Day evening.

It was centred 13 kilometres east of Sidney, B.C., northeast of Victoria.

Officials say there are no reports of damage and none would be expected.

Greater Victoria, Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley residents say they felt the shaker.

One Vancouver woman says she heard what she thought was a strong gust of wind, but realized it must have been an earthquake because the trees outside were not moving.
