PATIALA- A senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader is on the runafter allegedly cheating a Sangrur-based woman on the pretext of selling herland in Dakala and later not turning up for registry. He reportedly evenaccepted Rs 35 lakh as token money.A case was registered on December 18 against Baldev Singh Bathohi,who is Sanaur block samiti chairman, on the complaint of Balwinder Kaur,a resident of Rajomajra village. Sanaur is part of Samana constituency,which is represented by Cabinet Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra.Balwinder alleged that Baldev Singh had promised to sell 42 bighas ofhis land to her. She alleged that the accused, however, did not turn up forregistry and even refused to return the token money.The inquiry wasreferred to the Economic Offences Wing,which found out that the accuseddid not own the land that he had promised to sell. The FIR in the case wasregistered on the basis of the report filed by the Economic Offences Wing.
