SUVA – The University of the South Pacific awarded more than 20 gold medals to the most outstanding students in their respective fields of studies at the 2013 Medals and Prizes ceremony at the Oceania Centre last night.
The awards was categorised into 30 divisions of the different faculties in the university.
Triple Gold medallist Tejal Khantri who was the most outstanding graduate with major in Accounting, Economics and a major in Finance said her parents were the most happiest because they always believed in her and pushed her through this award.
“I am still trying to get to terms with the fact that I have received a triple gold medal award and it has been a privilege and an honour to be one of the recipients because this has been the reward of all my hard work,” she said.
The Multi-Ethnic-sponsored graduate said there was nothing impossible and everyone could get whatever goal they had in life.
Khantri who always valued her parents said she faced so many challenges and she was proud to overcome them all.
“All you need is to be determined and go where your talents are and try to achieve something so that you make your parents proud,” the 21-year-old said.
USP vice-chancellor Professor Rajesh Chandra said those were the students who had performed to their very best to get the following awards.
Another double gold medal recipient Komal Shandil who is the most outstanding graduate with majors in Biology and Chemistry said she felt honoured and that this award was something beyond description.
The full USP graduation ceremony will be held tomorrow at the Vodafone Arena.
