NEW DELHI – The level ofhappiness among Indian childrengrowing in cities hasreduced due to weakeningbonds with parents, experts saidSaturday.”These days the bond betweenchild and parents are not verystrong and the level of interactionis reduced which is causingthis trend,” child psychologistAnn Simi John.Addressing a workshop on raisinghappy children, the expertsadvised parents to have a structuredfamily time and exclusivemean time between each child.”As there are lesser child-parentsinteraction, the childrenlook for seekouts in terms offriendship, drugs and otherindulgences,” said John.Nitin Pandey, a child educationexpert at parentune.com – a supportplatform for the urban parents,said: “During our time, weused to have grandparents whowere always there but it is not sothese days and hence the child isdevoid of affection.”However, some experts feel thatit is not the fault of the parents,because there is greater economicpressure in this time.Pandey also advised parents notto allow children below 2 yearsto be exposed to 3D shows as itcauses neuronal dysfunction.
