Acquitted Rapist In India Molests The Same Victim Outside Court Following Vedict

NEW DELHI – A man wasWednesday acquitted of rapecharge but the victim in the casealleged she was molested outsidethe court by the acquittedman and his brother.Abhay Singh, 27, brother ofArvind Singh, 24, acquitted ofrape charge by the court ofadditional district judge AlkaMalik, was detained for allegedlymolesting the complainant.The victim, 28, had filed a complaintof rape against Arvind onApril 25 at the Udyog Viharpolice station. Arvind was amanager in an export house inUdyog Vihar while the complainantwas an employee in thesame firm. After the court’s verdictWednesday, the brothersstarted celebrations on thecourt premises and allegedlymolested the woman while distributingsweets. “The womanmade a call to the police controlroom. Arvind, however, managedto escape from the scenewhile Abhay was taken into custody,”a lawyer, who did notwish to be named, told IANS.”We are verifying the facts,”Arvind Kumar, head of policepost Khandsa said.Earlier, in the day, the court saidframed charges could not beproved. The woman alleged inher complaint that Arvind andshe were living as husband andwife for the past more than fouryears and she was raped on thepretext of marriage.The defence lawyer producedfour witnesses, including twolandlords of houses whereArvind was living during thepast four years. The two, however,told the court that Arvindwas living alone and they neversaw the complainant there.The complainant had told theinvestigation officer that shewas unmarried, but later it wasestablished she had married tosome other person and wasmother of an 11-year-old boy,studying in a private school inthe Badshahpur area.
