PICS CEO Personally Opens Society’s International Settlement Office In Chandigarh

SURREY – ProgressiveIntercultural CommunityServices (PICS) Society CEOCharan Gill was on hand for theSociety’s official opening ofinternational office inChandigrah on January 14th,which had over 60 attendees.The office is now actively assistingand providing informationto potential newcomers toreduce the culture-shock and toprepare them to overcome thebarriers they may face whenthey move here.“From my personal experience,since I’ve arrived in Canada 40years ago, my friends and I spent2 to 3 years searching for suitablepositions and a sense ofsettlement,” saysGill. “That’swhy I founded PICS Society sothat we can give guidance andcounselling to clients on jobsearch, settlement and otherrelated issues. We’re proud tosay that through PICS Society,we’re reducing people’s waitingtime to find employment and tosettle in their new home.”The goals and objectives forPICS Society’s Chandigarh’soffice is to assist immigrants,who have already received a visato come to Canada, in their predepartureneeds. At this time,we’re offering our pre-departureservices through volunteers andPICS Society’s funding. TheChandigarh office will eventuallyoffer full services in languageand literacy services, settlementservices, employment programs,housing programs, counsellingand support services.Attendees included G.K.
