Indo-Canadian JO Alumni Gift School $22,500 In Support Of Literacy Program

VANCOUVER – John Oliver’sAlumni Community gatheredon Monday January to present acheque in the amount of$22,500 to John OliverSecondary School. The donationis part of an initiative bylocal entrepreneurs and JohnOliver alumni, Barj and RitaDhahan, to raise $100,000. TheDhahans have founded theWonder of Reading LegacyFund aimed at supporting theschool’s reading programs andraise funds targeted at studentliterary.The first instalment to theWonder of Reading LegacyFund will support the multiplereading and literacy initiativesthe school has undertaken,including night school classes,programs in which JO studentsengage with preschool and elementaryaged children and theirfamilies in reading support, afterschool tutor clubs run by studentsfor students, and readingprograms aimed at students onschool sports and other teams,to name a few.
