SURREY – Canadian Eyesight Global organized a Free Eye Health Clinic at the Dashmesh Darbar Gurdwara Sahib, Surrey BC. Eyes of over 186 patients were screened and patients with major eye problems were referred to the eye surgeons for further treatment. Free eye drops were given to the patients.
The Free Eye Clinic was sponsored by Rotary Club of Surrey-Guildford and Rotary Club of Burnaby. A team of eminent surgeons and doctors of Dr. David R.S. Neima, MD, FRCS (C) Ophthl., Dr. Robin Cottle, MD, FRCS(C) Ophthl, Dr. Warren Whitford, Dr. Paul Denton and associates participated. The volunteers and interpreters including Dr. Raghbir Singh Bains, Rotarians Gary Thorne, President, Rotary Club of Surrey-Guildford, Art Claxton, Garry Sass, Dianna Sears, Lynn Spence, Rtn. Satwant Ginder (Sangha), Rtn. Kulwant Kaur Sekhon and other members of Rotary Club of Burnaby volunteered. The other dedicated volunteers who helped in the Free Eye Clinic were Navneet Singh, Mrs. Vicki Singh, Himuth Singh, Jupna Kaur, Chanan Deo, Dr. Amrit Kaur, Aman Kaur, Darshan Singh Mann, Gurmel Singh Dhaliwal, Saroop Kaur Jubbal, Anup Singh Jubbal President Canadian Eyesight Global and other dedicated volunteers joined hands and worked tirelessly to make this Free Eye Health Clinic a success.
It is clarified here that the eye screening service is not covered by BC Medical Plan. At close of the camp Anup Singh Jubbal President Canadian Eyesight Global thanked Gian Singh Gill president, Avtar Singh Johal treasurer, Giani Mukhtiar Singh and other members of Dashmesh Darbar Gurdwara Sahib for their cooperation and generous support.
Canadian Eyesight Global formerly Project Eyesight-India has successfully sponsored many free camps in Punjab and other parts of India for treating avoidable blindness since 1989. It shall be celebrating 25th anniversary during 2014.
