“If Moron Was A Country, Here’s The President, Writer-Director Farhan Akhtar Says Of Rightwing VHP Leader Togadia’s Anti-Muslim Rants

MUMBAI – Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Pravin Togadia is facing severe criticism for allegedly delivering a hate speech against Muslims in Bhavnagar, Gujarat. As per reports, he said that Muslims should be stopped from buying property in Hindu-majority areas.

Even as the Election Commission seeks the footage of the supposed ‘hate speech’, Bollywood celebs spoke out against divisive politics.

Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar shared a story on Togadia saying, “If moron was a country, here’s the president”.

Writer Shobha De wrote on Twitter, “Pravin Togadia, you are a disgrace to modern India. We give YOU 48 hours to withdraw hate comments and take back open threats.”

MTV Roadies host Raghuram tweeted his anger saying, “Seriously disturbing to find some ppl agreeing with togadia. BJP-RSS-VHP communal hate appeals to them.”

VJ Nikhil Chinnappa wrote, “Heil Togadia. Today it evict Muslims and then? Parsis, Sikhs, Jains, Christians and Jews? Excuse me while I go shopping for jackboots.”

Filmmaker Rajat Kapoor’s tweet had a taste of satire. He wrote, “Togadia for PM – Come on, we al want a man of action..!”

Actor Richa Chaddha wrote. “The British did it to us, ruled and impoverished us for 200 years. And our disgusting politicians are at it again. DIVIDE AND RULE!”

Actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub, best known for his role as Murari in Raanjhana, was among the most vocal critics. Venting his anger on Facebook, he said, “Togadia is a seller of hatred and every religion has such sellers. What surprises me is the fact that they get buyers! A normal Hindu does not have any such insecurities about his religion,” he wrote.
