SURREY – Indo-Canadian beauty from Chilliwack has been crowned Miss Teenage Fraser Valley 2014. Shovanna Pratap was crowned on March 3rd and has been participating in public events.
Shovanna describes herself as a very kind, compassionate and hardworking 19 year old, Bachelor of Science student at the University of the Fraser Valley. Her future goal is to obtain her Doctorate in pharmacy.
She has lived in Chilliwack B.C. her entire life and her parents are from Fiji Islands.
She graduated with A honours, received a Principal’s list Alumni Award and many scholarships. She was a member of the Kiwanis Key Club, Suicidal Prevention group, Be the Change group for youth, Student council and Grad Committee. She taught a dance to the entire school and staff.
She is extremely well-rounded, and participated in many extracurricular activities in high school and in the community (Salvation Army, Valleyhaven Seniors Home, etc.).
She is a triple threat and excels in dancing, singing, and acting. She has danced for 12 years. She is a competitive dancer and has competed in British Columbia and in US. She took acting and modeling training at JRP in Vancouver. She was selected to attend ipop at Las Vegas in 2007 and Vancouver in 2008.
In Las Vegas, she did runway modeling, was a top 10 dancer and was selected to participate in the showcase. In Vancouver she was a top 10 dancer and was first runner up for commercial beauty. She has been singing competitively for 3 years has sung at her school Vocal Jazz group called “Treble Makers” for 2 years.
She has participated in two high school musical theater productions called “Hard2Hide” and “Chicago”. She works part-time at Wendy’s and modeled to help raise money for Free the Children.
Shovanna likes to volunteer and will be volunteering at public events and her goal is to raise cancer awareness. She is a member of the Chilliwack Cancer Society Unit and has volunteered for Chilliwack’s Relay for life.
