Gurjit Dhillon caused deadly crash that killed 83-year-old Pritam Singh Benning sitting at bus stop.
VANCOUVER – A panel of judges at the BC Court of Appeal has dismissed an appeal in a case that involved a deadly crash in Surrey in 2009 involving an Indo-Canadian driver who killed an elderly Indo-Canadian man.
Gurjit Dhillion was fighting his dangerous driving causing death conviction.
In 2009, he lost control of his car and crashed into a bus stop. Eight-three-year-old Pritam Benning was mowed down on the street as he waited for a bus in Surrey in 2009.
The victim was severely injured and died less than a week later in the hospital.
Dhillon, initially charged with street-racing, appealed his conviction Thursday on dangerous driving causing death.
But B.C.’s top court has declined his appeal.
