SURREY  – Bigger than expected crowds at the opening day of Surrey Night Market last Saturday forced organizers to make some changes like adding more booths and more parking spots.

Satbir Cheema, one of the organizers, said they were surprised by the turnout last weekend; about 7,500 people showed up. With even warmer temperatures this weekend, up to 10,000 are expected.

“This time, we’re better prepared. There’ll be more parking spots, there’ll be more ticket booths so that the lineups are not that long,” says Cheema.

“We will be getting at least 500 more parking spots. There’s an overflow parking area within the complex,” he explains.

He adds the vendors will be bringing more food this weekend.

This is the first market of its kind south of the Fraser. The Surrey Night Market runs Friday and Saturday nights until the end of August.
