The book titled ‘India’s first Sardar Hind Kesri Wrestler Sukhwant Singh’, was recently released at Royal King Banquet Hall at a function attended by eight top wrestling organizations including Hargobind Wrestling Club, Purewal Wrestling Club, Khalsa Wrestling, Miri Piri Wrestling and Khalsa Wrestling among others.

SURREY – Decorated Indian policeman and legendary star wrestler Sukhwant Singh Sidhu, who was the first Sardar to be Hindi Kesri in the sport, celebrated his long career in service and sports with an official biography written by his wife Surinderjit Kaur Sidhu.

The book titled ‘India’s first Sardar Hind Kesri Wrestler Sukhwant Singh’, which is published by Chetna Parkashan, was recently released at Royal King Banquet Hall at a function attended by many wrestling organizations including Hargobind Wrestling Club, Purewal Wrestling Club, Khalsa Wrestling, Miri Piri Wrestling and Khalsa Wrestling among others.

The event also celebrated Sidhu’s 70th birthday and many politicians like MP Jinny Sims, Harry Bains, and those from the wrestling world – coaches and wrestlers – came to grace the occasion.

Sidhu’s author wife Surinderjit Kaur told the crowd that she wanted to compile her husband’s achievements so that our next generations could know of the great achievements made by our ancestors.

She sees her husband as a role model for the new generation and they can learn greatly from him and build success in their careers.

Sidhu told the LINK his wife went through many of his articles and stories collected throughout his career to give him a special present and he is extremely grateful for her to tell his story.

Sidhu, who was given the title – Pride of the Community and the Honour of the Country, began receiving accolades when he won the Hind Kesri at Kanpur in 1970 and Rustam-E-Hind at Rohtak in 1970-71, which at the time was the top honour accorded to a Sikh in Punjab for the first time.
