FATEHGARH SAHIB – Terming the Sikh-Muslim clashes in Saharanpur as unfortunate, Prem Singh Chandumajra, Anandpur Sahib MP, today demanded that the Central Government should ensure the safety of Sikhs in Uttar Pradesh. The MP said the Centre should take strict action against those responsible for the clashes.

“The NDA Government should initiate steps for the security of Sikh living in Saharanpur so that such incidents do not recur,” he said. He appealed to the people to maintain amity and foil the nefarious designs of anti-social elements to disturb peace.

Noted lawyer and AAP leader HS Phoolka has written to Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, urging him to caution the Sikh community against getting into a conflict with any community in view of the recent clashes at Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

Phoolka has said: “Some mischievous elements are out to disturb peace and are conspiring to pit the Sikhs against the people of other religions. The next six months are critical.”
