Mad scientists are nothing new for Hollywood. But what a lab rat with a sincere desire to good.  Think of Ian as a man on a mission. Michael Pitt is totally believable as an idealist out to cure blindness in mice.  Along with colleague Karen the two are on the verge of a breakthrough.  Curiosity and drive motivate Brit Marling and her enthusiasm is contagious.

All work and no play can make any man restless so when Ian meets a mystery woman named Sofia he can’t get her off his mind.  One night stands can prove fatal only in  This instance the pair hook up with lovely Astrid Bridges-Frisbey  a woman with a strange hold on Ian.  Call it the eye effect which the filmmakers here have utilized In a unique sort of way.

Here we have a man of science at a loss with only a pair of eyes the connection to his happiness.  How this impacts others and science in general helps turn this Mike Cahill 113 minute science fiction journey into an unusual quest that will keep folks tuned in.  Some hot steamy scenes and elements of the unknown propel this set in New York minor thriller into a pretty nifty tale of love, loss, hope and desperation,
