SAN FRANCISCO – Apple’s high-paying technology jobs are primarily filled by white and Asian men, just like its industry peers.

A breakdown released on Tuesday by Apple Inc. showed 54% of the company’s technology jobs in the US are handled by whites and another 23% by Asians. Men make up 80% of Apple’s technology workforce throughout the world.

Apple CEO Tim Cook expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of diversity in a letter posted alongside the data. He also highlighted the ways that the world’s most valuable company is trying to be more inclusive.

The scarcity of women, blacks and Latinos employed in computer programming and other technology jobs at Apple mirrors the situations previously disclosed at other major Silicon Valley companies such as Google Inc., Yahoo Inc. and Facebook Inc.

Thankful to all who think I’m the ‘King of Bollywood’: Shah Rukh Khan

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is thankful for being conferred with the ‘King of Bollywood’ title, and feels humbled to have gained respect from peers and fans alike after being in the industry all these years.

Recently, Salman Khan called Shah Rukh the King of Bollywood. When asked to comment, Shah Rukh said, “We all are kind to each other. We respect each other. I think what we have achieved (in our career) and I will include myself also in it. I think… whatever we have earned (name) is due to our hard work. We have been entertaining for many years.”

“We don’t disrespect anyone. So all these titles and numbers doesn’t really matter. I think we all just hope our next film does well. So if you ask me a question like this I am thankful to anyone who thinks of me like this anywhere in the world. God has been kind to me,” he said without taking Salman’s name.

Shah Rukh also chose to dodge another question on Salman’s Kick.

The equation between the two Khans has always provided fodder to gossip mills since their fight on Katrina Kaif’s birthday bash and their eventual patch up at an Iftaar party here.

But the two superstars have never spoken ill about each other and have wished success and happiness for each other.

Shah Rukh was talking at a promotional event last night of an upcoming film Mad About Dance (MAD), a venture which he is supporting.

m:.0/ tlXt:15.0pt;background:white’>State Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury accused Banerjee of defying the constitution by allowing the officer to dance in uniform.

“The constitution doesn’t allow any person to dance like that in uniform. It’s a shame that the sanctity of police uniform was allowed to be violated. By allowing the officer to dance like that, she (Banerjee) violated the constitution of India,” said Chowdhury.

With a bevy of actors and actresses being a regular feature of government and Trinamool Congress-organised programmes, BJP state president Rahul Sinha said Banerjee’s entry into politics was a mistake.

“Going by her eagerness to involve film stars in each and every programme, it seems our chief minister has wrongly entered politics. The sooner she realises that and quits politics, the better it will be for the people of Bengal,” said Sinha.
