CHANDIGARH – The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) claimed that the INLD-SAD alliance would form the next government in Haryana and that the SAD’s fight was with the Congress and not the BJP.

Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, speaking after the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected Talwandi Sabo MLA, Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu, said the SAD would announce its candidates for the Ambala and Kolianwali Assembly constituencies in Haryana in the next two days.

“The SAD’s ties with the BJP in Punjab are permanent and not open to any speculation. The alliance will fight the civic elections together,” Sukhbir said.

He stunned everybody by announcing that five more Congress MLAs were ready to join the SAD and that the party was considering their requests and looking for an appropriate time to induct them.

On the new office-bearers, Sukhbir said that in 1996, as per the Moga resolution, the SAD had transformed itself into a Punjabi party. “Hence, important responsibilities have been assigned to leaders of the Hindu community and other communities in the organisational set-up.”

On the reasons for appointing four Youth Akali Dal conveners, he said this would ensure better connect with the masses at the grassroots level. On allegations of horse-trading by AAP’s Delhi unit, Sukhbir said: “AAP comprises a group of frustrated persons and their chief Arvind Kejriwal has openly admitted that he had blundered in resigning as Delhi CM”.
