Man Gunned Down In Surrey Last Week Identified As Indo-Canadian With No Criminal Record

The victim has been identified as 29 year old Birinder Khangura, who was gunned down in the early hours of last Friday morning, at approximately 12:15am.

SURREY – A man shot and killed in Surrey last weekend has been identified as an Indo-Canadian with no prior criminal record.

The victim has been identified as 29 year old Birinder Khangura, who was shot  in the early hours of last Friday morning, at approximately 12:15am.

“Mr. Khangura does not have a criminal record. In this early stage we believe this was a targeted shooting,” says Staff Sergeant Jennifer Pound.

The Surrey RCMP attended the 14500 block of 83A Avenue for a shots fired call and upon attendance a male was located in his truck suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Witnesses in the area reported a white minivan leaving the scene at the time the shots were heard.

At approximately 12:30am, a white Pontiac Montana was recovered in an alley in the 8300 block of 141 Street.  This vehicle was found abandoned and on fire.

Last week, neighbours told the media a man was driving the pick-up truck when someone shot at him. The truck then ended up on the lawn of a nearby home.
