Veteran Insurance industry leader Perminder Chohan of Desjardins Financial Security Independent Network (DFSIN) knows what it takes to build success in business, having won many top awards for achieving great business success in the insurance industry.
And the kind of grassroots level success that Chohan has built does not go un-noticed as he was selected by Canadian entrepreneur, public speaker, author and personal and professional development trainer Brian Tracy to be among just a handful of select successful businessman for his renowned success building seminars, which are known as “The Phoenix Seminars”.
“It was a great experience to be party of Brian Tracy’s network of successful people and a great learning experience,” Chohan told the LINK, adding that he was the only individual selected from Canada for the network television interview which was held in San Diego, California.
Tracy’s hand selected successful individuals, including Chohan, will be profiled on business segments which will air on the national and international television networks like NBC, CBS, ABC and FOX.
Aside from the great honour of being selected and profiled on national and international television networks, Chohan will also be co Authoring a book with Tracy titled “UNCOMMON”, which looks at the personality traits of people who are successful. The book will be published soon.
Chohan has been successful as he is adept at wearing many different hats. To the financial services industry, he is a successful and well respected business owner. To his team at the Desjardins Financial – Richmond South Financial Centre, he is the ever inspiring and supportive Managing Director.
To the South Asian community in the Greater Vancouver Area at large, he is the tireless leader that always gives generously to many causes and has supports numerous events. But to his family, he is just their loving, caring father and husband.
Chohan started his career in the financial services industry when he joined a Registered Education Savings Plan company in 1998. In six short months, he became their number one agent nationally.
In 2003, Chohan expanded his career spectrum and started in the life insurance industry. Since then he has been instructional to over 200 agents in their career training and development. In 2009, Chohan joined Desjardins Financial Security Independent Network as a managing director. His office has since proliferated with great business success.
Under Chohan’s leadership, the financial centre received multiple top awards from the network in categories such as recruiting, business growth and total sales for a centre with less than 50 associates. As of beginning of the fall this year, Cohan’s team once again leads in sales, recruiting and growth.
“You first need to be a people person. And you need to be genuine, honest and trustworthy. It’s not always easy to start in this business. But we are here to train and prepare you. So you are never alone. Of course, if your family gives you the whole-hearted blessing to be in the business, things will be easier,” Chohan said, adding this is his advice to many young people aspire to become a financial services advisor.
Rooting in and supporting the community has always been one of Chohan’s priorities. He has led his advisors to raise funds for many charity causes, such as Canadian Cancer Society and Heart and Stroke Foundation.
DFSIN Richmond South sponsors sports activities and teams regularly. The Pacific Eagles soccer club, Surrey Hawks cricket club, you name it. Chohan is particularly proud to be part of the force to bring many fan favourite Bollywood acts to Canada to perform. He is also a fixture at many community oriented awards. This year alone, he has presented at Shakti Awards and Times of Canada Awards.
Whenever asked to speak about his success, Chohan never fails to emphasize the importance of the support from his family. His loving wife Deep Chohan is always by his side at various community events. Inspired by the parents, his daughter Henna Chohan and his son Armaan Chohan are now also actively involved in the community.
“My family is an integral part of my success. Without them, I wouldn’t have made it here.” Chohan said.
