ABOHAR – Aam Aadmi Party MP from Sangrur Bhagwant Mann said film producers, who were found using unfair means, should be “sued” suitably.

Speaking in Abohar Thursday, he said ATM thefts by staff of a private security company to help in the production of Punjabi movie was an unfortunate incident that brought bad name to the industry.

The police had recently exposed the nexus between Muktsar-based film producers and three persons assigned the job of loading ATMs.

Mann said no Punjabi film cost less than Rs 4 crore and if the use of such unfair means is not checked firmly, the industry of regional language movies would collapse.

The background

The police on Wednesday said they had arrested a gang of four persons — two private security personnel and two producers of a Punjabi movie — for theft of about Rs 1.15 crore from seven ATMs in Fazilka and Muktsar districts

The producers had convinced the ATM loaders to arrange the money, saying they would return double the amount after the release of their film
