Former MP Gurmant Grewal Ready To Go To Newton-North Delta If Party Asks Him!

Last week, the LINK exclusively reported that BC Conservative power players denied two  Indo-Canadian candidates – former MP Gurmant Grewal and businessman Paul Brar – by disqualifying them from seeking the nomination without giving any reasons for the denial. Slowly new information has emerged which many observers say looks and feels like a conspiracy by some Conservative insiders with a help of a prominent federal Liberal to oust Brar and Grewal, both of whom had the most members signed with Grewal expected to win the nomination. The nomination was won by Former Langley Township councillor Dean Drysdale over Mike Garisto by count of 528-503 votes in the final ballot. Supporters of the both rejected candidates want the from the nomination dismissed and to have a new nomination meeting with both Grewal and Brar running.

SURREY – Last week, the LINK exclusively reported that BC Conservative power players denied two  Indo-Canadian candidates – former MP Gurmant Grewal and businessman Paul Brar – by disqualifying them from seeking the nomination without giving any reasons for the denial.

Slowly new information has emerged which many observers say looks and feels like a conspiracy by some Conservative insiders with a help of a prominent federal Liberal to oust Brar and Grewal, both of whom had the most members signed with Grewal expected to win the nomination.

The nomination was won by Former Langley Township councillor Dean Drysdale over Dave Hayer by count of 528-503 votes in the final ballot.

Many observers at last Saturday’s voting in Langley observed a well known federal Liberal was present and was helping one of the candidates by coordinating the largely Indo-Canadian voters whodecided to vote against the party’s candidate despite being signed by Grewal and Brar.

Sources told the LINK that while party insiders didn’t want to comment on why Grewal and Brar were dismissed, it is well known that it was due to membership sign-up irregularities which is common in every nomination, even for those for Conservative and Liberal leadership races.

If membership irregularities were the only things involved, all the party officials needed to do was dismiss those members that were signed up improperly and led all the candidates run as scheduled. There was no need to dismiss Grewal and Brar.

The way Grewal and Brar, who had the highest membership sign-ups, were dismissed is what is giving rise to a conspiracy theory, that it was done purposely, allegedly with the help of this federal Liberal who has known to frequent Conservative circles after a number of election debacles.

LINK sources said: “This fellow (the federal Liberal) basically told some of the people that he knew to sign up with Gurmant and Paul and then took statements from the members, saying it was done improperly by not having the member pay the $10 fee but in fact telling them that the candidate will cover the fee. We can prove this is what happened,” the person, who wanted to remain anonymous, told the LINK, saying he can’t understand why they would do that.

“There was no need to dismiss Mr. Brar and Mr. Grewal from the nomination when they all had to do was just dismiss the members in question,” he said.

Supporters of the both rejected candidates want the from the nomination dismissed and to have a new nomination meeting with both Grewal and Brar running.

We wrote last week that the reasons for Grewal and Brar’s dismissal are fairly clear that Conservative insiders knew that their candidate, which rumours suggest is a “White Candidate”, had no chance of winning after Grewal and Brar signed up thousands of members after being okayed by the party to do so.

Grewal didn’t want to comment on the new allegations and said that he is moving forward, reiterating that he is a Conservative and will continue to support his party.

Asked if he would like to go back to his old riding of Newton-North Delta, he said he would do whatever the party asked him to do.

Insiders tell the LINK that the party wanted him to go to this riding in the first place but Grewal insisted on going to the new riding of Cloverdale-Langley City.

It will be interesting to see what transpires in Newton-North Delta, which is currently held by NDP MP Jinni Sims but will have Liberal Sukh Dhaliwal possibly to challenge her if he wins the Liberal nomination. It will be more fireworks if Grewal ends up in this riding.
