British NRI Husband Accused Of Demanding 500,000 Rupees For VISA Fees

SURAT – A non-resident Indian (NRI) booked by police for allegedly harassing and cheating wife. The accused demanded Rs 5 lakh for VISA expenses on phone from London, the complainant alleged. Registering the complaint police started investigation in the case and the husband will be called to register his statement.

An Ahmedabad woman resident lodged the complaint against her husband of harassment and cheating in Limbayat police station. Police booked the husband Ashish Kapdi, currently resident of Gloucester in London, for the alleged crime.

The woman got married to the man in September 2011 in city’s Dumbhal area and soon after marriage he left for London. At time of marriage the accused lured the woman by offering to take her to foreign country but he did not even after four years of marriage, the complainant alleged.

They talked over the phone many times. The man allegedly taunted the woman on phone over several issues and mentally tortured her. The husband allegedly demanded Rs 5 lakh for VISA expenses from the complainant if she wish to continue the marriage.

The woman claimed in her complaint that her family provided offering worth Rs 2.50 lakh in the marriage and the valuables are not being returned by the accused.
