Reception Held For S.P. Dwivedi’s Poetry Book Raat Bawry Din Banjara

SURREY – Following the publication of – Raat Bawry Din Banjara, the seventh collection of Acharya S.P. Dwivedi’s poems, the Hindi Literary Society of Canada, BC held a reception and literary discussion on December13, at Newton Public Library in Surrey. Acharya is known for his outspokenness on violence, hypocracy and social injustice. He has been promoting interfaith harmony, peace and universal brotherhood for more than forty years in Canada.

Deepa Sharma, president of Hindi Literary Society of Canada welcomed the guests. She requested Sarla Dwivedi of Guelph to chair the event. Dr.J.Das lighted the diya (candle) and  Kanti Dwivedi  acted as MC. She requested the Sarla Dwivedi to formally launch the book and it was done amidst  roar of clappings.

Ashok Bhargava- a popular poet and  famous promoter of Asian Literature presented his review of the book. The title is interesting and exciting too. Acharya  is one of  the leading Hindi poets of Canada who has inspired many young writers. This book includes a variety of themes on which he composed poems. He used simple language to capture the plight of oppressed Gypsies and helplessness of  South Asian seniors.

Dr Suresh Kurl, a professor and scholar  found some discrapencies in selection of   symbols in couple of places. His language is light but effective. He writes thoughfullyand   straight from his heart. He has applied his inner feelings and experiences to reflect upon human existence.The painting on the cover of the book is impressive and artistic.He is equally amazing in writing poems in blank verse,  songs or in Hindi quatrains.

Dwivedi said that the  aim of literature is not only  to expose the evils, destructive social forces, corrupt practices but also to cultivate social cohesion and  peace. Writers  have to remain alert to see that the rich literary  heritage is secured.

Mohammad Afzal Malik of South Asian Literary Society of Canada congratulated Dwivedi for his seventh book of poetry.He admired Dwivedi for his multifaith , multicultural and multi literary works.

Jimmy  Sims,  MP appreciated and congratulated  Dwivedi  for his peace efforts and activities of building bridges through literary and interfaith initiatives.

Dr. Satya Prakash Sharma, a master of Hindu Philodophy and Indian vocal music recited a couple of Dwivedi’s poems.  These famous writers recited their poems-  Narinder Bhagi ‘Barham’, Herdev Sodhi “Ashak”, Pushplata Sharma, Archana Harit, Jitendra Kumar, Dr. Preeti Misra and Rigyaju. All the guets were entertained with snacks and sweets.
