GURDASPUR – The BSF, in a joint operation with the Special Operations Cell of the Punjab Police, killed a Pakistani drug smuggler when he entered the Indian Territory carrying 17 packets of heroin and some opium.

BSF DIG NK Mishra said movement of some Pakistani smugglers was noticed near the Kamal Jattan Border outpost (Kalanaur sector) late last night. BSF jawans challenged the smugglers and killed one of them. Seventeen kg heroin, two Pakistani SIM cards and some opium were seized from his possession. “His three Indian accomplices were waiting for him on the Indian side. Two of them were arrested while one managed to run away. Both of them have been handed over to the Special Operations Cell and are being interrogated,” Mishra said.

Mishra said the Pakistani smuggler was killed in retaliatory firing. “His body has been handed over to the police. We will ask the Pakistani Rangers to take possession of his body. If they refused to accept it, we will ask the police to cremate it,” the DIG said.
