Thanks to the dedication and philanthropic work of Prof. O. P. Dwivedi who established Sushila Devi Eye Hospital on his mother’s name, to provide free eye treatment and surgery for the poor workers and formers of Bitthoor, Kanpur,UP in India. His family members supported his project. The eye hospital is functioning exceptionally well since November 2008 with the support of a charity organization-Kalayanam Karoti . More than eleven thousands cataract surgery have been done. This year the Eye Hospital organized a free successful Eye Shivir(Camp) in January. Dr. D. S. Mishra, Dr. Rakesh Trivedi, Rakesh Dixit and Shailendra Dwivedi arranged the Shivir in which more than five hundred people took part. The Dindayal Dube Trust was created to finance and manage the hospital and now it is being chaired by Acharya S.P. Dwivedi of Surrey. Acharya Dwivedi has been is also organizing a free D.D. Dwivedi Middle School in his home town – Bindki, Fatehpur (UP)for the children of down trodden families.
