SURREY – The rise to one’s greatest feats always starts at the very bottom.

That’s the way it was for Harj Hadani, aka Skinnyroti, who in middle of battling post-partum depression, found the strength to take it to the next level and become a Bikini athlete.

Hadani, a mother of two children, says it’s never too late to follow your dreams.

Hot off her win at the local Muscle Classic Fitness show where she finished top 5 in her class, she is now qualified for provincial championships. She is currently in preparation for the BC championships which are being held in Vancouver on May 23rd.

Paving the way for Indian women to compete in this sport, Hadani is a true pioneer in many ways. Her message is clear for all the women she is motivating to find good health, lose weight, and to feel good about themselves.

“It’s never too late to make new goals, every women has it in her.  You will find time for the things that matter, for everything else you will find and excuse,” she said

Plagued with post partum depression after having her second baby, and being diagnosed with a severe anxiety disorder, Hadani decided to take her health and her family’s happiness in her own hands.

“Being the best mom and wife possible is what motivated me,” she said.

Hadani started working out at home at 5am before the kids woke up and mommy duties started. The endorphins that exercise gave her set her on the path to pursue a certification in Sports Nutrition as well as a certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, Certified Personal Trainer.

With her existing love of cooking and new found knowledge on how to eat healthy to lose weight and not “diet” she started creating healthy recipes for Indian food.

This is how Skinnyroti was created. It started with her free website www.skinnyroti.com where she publishes her recipes on making healthy Indian food and sharing her secrets and tips for losing weight. She found a lot of support and has thousands of followers on her Instagram page @skinnyroti .

Did you ever think you could make healthy butter chicken? Hadani figured out how and the recipe is on her site.

What’s in the near future for Skinnyroti ?

Hadani is  looking further than Provincial’s already wanting to qualify for Nationals and possibly earning her Pro card. She said Skinnyroti  products are in the works, and a product line will be coming to stores near you very soon.

From full-time mom, entrepreneur, and accounting student to pursuing her dreams, she says she took a risk on herself.

“If you truly want something, never give up on it. One day you will wake up and there won’t be any more time to do the things you’ve wanted. Wake up and do them now,” she said

Hadani is looking for local sponsors to travel this road with her. If you are interested, email  her @ [email protected]
