AMRITSAR – The SGPC is all set to pass its annual budget for the fiscal year 2015-16 on March 30 and it is likely to go up by 25 per cent as compared to the last year. The budget is expected to be around Rs 1,100 crore to Rs 1,200 crore this time, while it was Rs 905 crore last year.
A meeting of the SGPC executive committee has been called in this connection here on Monday. The executive committee already held discussions over the budget in a recent meeting at Anandpur Sahib. SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said the focus of the budget would be on propagation of Sikhism, promoting education and building more ‘sarai’ (inns) for facilitating comfortable stay of pilgrims.
