Decision In The Longest Human Rights Hearing Into Systemic Racist Abuse Against Indo-Canadian Veterinarians Coming Soon

NDP To Raise Questions In Coming House Session On Why The Decision Has Taken So Long!

The LINK has been leading the local press in reporting the story on Indo-Canadian vets.

“Go back to Pakistan”, “Asshole”, “Sociopath”, “Gone are the days when we could go there with a torch and burn it down, a quicker way”, are some of the racist and abusive comments made by the upper echelon of the CVBC, the BC government appointed Association that is supposed to be fair and balanced towards all of its members. The human rights decision into the longest hearing in the history of BC Human Rights, lasting 380 days and costing the Indo-Vets more than $1.5 million and the CVBC more than $7 million, is on its way, taking nearly three years after the last submissions were made by both sides in May 2012. Will justice prevail or will it be a mockery of justice as it has been for the Indo Vets over the last two decades.

VANCOUVER – For the Indo-Canadian veterinarians, who have suffered the kind of racist abuse and systemic discrimination, where power-holding members of their professional association – College of Veterinarians of BC (CVBC), formerly known as British Columbia Veterinary Medical Association (BCVMA) – have openly said “Gone are the days when we could go there with a torch and burn it down, a quicker way”,, the kind of openly racist abuse that you only hear about happening in formerly racist regimes like South Africa, justice has been delayed so long that they are starting to believe that Canada is no different than some third world country.

But the Indo Veterinarians can take heed that the human rights decision into the longest hearing in the history of BC Human Rights, lasting 380 days and costing the Indo-Vets more than $1.5 million and the CVBC more than $7 million, is on its way, taking nearly three years after the last submissions were made by both sides in May 2012.

But why has it taken so long for the Panel (Judge) member, who has been sitting on this single case for the last three years without a decision.

Is it pressure from the BC Liberal government through further lobbying by CVBC, which has been desperately trying to do negotiate a settlement with Dr. Hakam Bhullar and his fellow Veterinarians who have said “HELL NO.”

The Indo-Vets want the Human Rights to once and for all give the decision in the case which they believe will once and for all lay bear the abuse they have suffered for nearly two decades and continue to suffer with useless complaints against them and having their licenses taken for no reason at all while other members of the association who have been found to commit much more serious abuse get away with just a slap on the wrist.

Indo Veterinarians have always felt that B.C. Liberal government has failed them in seeking justice in discrimination cases against their own regulating body.

They lobbied the government to stop the abuse by either removing the tainted BCVMA members as well as stopping funding to cover their legal costs which have wasted time and resources all for the purpose of systematic prosecution of a select number of low-cost Indo-Canadian veterinarians.

Instead explosive tape recordings show these BCVMA “Goons” to be highly biased, vindictive, abusive, foul mouthed and OVERTLY RACIST! And guess who is happy to be supporting them – your much HATED BC Liberals, who are now in trying to subvert justice and democracy by not appointing the Human Rights Judge Judy Parrack who is hearing a landmark case of racism and abuse brought on by Indo-Canadian Veterinarian for Justice group.

The lack of justice for the Indo Vets and continued abuse against them by the CVBC show that either the BC Liberals are in the back pocket of some of the high ranking BCVMA members or someone powerful is pulling the strings from inside government on behalf of the CVBC. In either case, the Indo-Vets are right that the government is essentially funding racism and abuse.

The Link previously reported that New Democrats urged the B.C. Liberal government to ensure that this Human Rights proceedings are completed in a timely fashion when there was threat that the government wasn’t going to renew the Panel member’s (Judge) contract . The office of the attorney general can implement either Section 6 or 7 of the

“The Indo-Canadian veterinarians deserve justice,” Raj Chouhan, MLA for Burnaby-Edmonds said at the time. “It’s time for the B.C. Liberals to stop undermining our justice system. The government has an obligation ensure citizens’ rights are protected.”

Sources tell us that the Opposition NDP will be raising the Indo Vets human rights hearing decision matter in the coming session of the House that the decision, which many believe the Panel member has already submitted but is being held back as it will be greatly damaging to CVBC as well as the Christy Clark government, must be published soon.

Will justice prevail or will it be a mockery of justice as it has been for the Indo Vets over the last two decades.
