ABOHAR – A 17-year-old girl, who had been allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped by three youths at a village near Hanumangarh on April 12, died after “consuming poison” last night. The girl was to be produced in a court on Wednesday.
The victim’s grandfather told the police that she was kidnapped by three youths on April 12. They took her to a field in Rampura village and raped her. As she did not agree to keep the crime a secret, they allegedly threw her in a reservoir and fled. Responding to her cries for help, some villagers rescued her. The complaint in this connection was filed next day and her statement was to be recorded in the court.
The victim’s grandfather in his complaint to the police alleged that she told him that on her way back home the accused forced her to consume poison. She was shifted to the Civil Hospital, Taranagar, but doctors declared her brought dead, the police said.
