Despite Jason Kenney’s Endorsement, Deol-Fallon Loses Big Time!
The party needed a high profile mainstream candidate in the riding along the lines of Chuck Cadman or even former MP Gurmant Grewal to recapture the riding that has only been held by either the NDP or Conservative candidates.

SURREY – Newcomer Sucha Thind embarrassed Party favorite Mani Deol-Fallon by winning newly constituted federal riding of Surrey-Centre Conservative nomination by a big margin.
Despite Defence Minister Jason Kenney’s endorsement, Deol-Fallon loses big time after creating much hype about her would be candidacy.
Deol-Fallon, who won the Conservative nomination in Surrey-Newton in the last election and then lost the election to NDP’s Jinny Sims, had little chance of winning the riding anyway, which is currently held by NDP’s Jasbir Sandhu.
The party needed a high profile mainstream candidate in the riding along the lines of Chuck Cadman or even former MP Gurmant Grewal to recapture the riding that has only been held by either the NDP or Conservative candidates.
Thind, who said he owned and operated a successful aluminums railing business and served as a mentor to many young entrepreneurs in the city for over 25 years, won the nomination last Sunday by what was said was a comfortable margin with about 1,500 votes cast.
“In my early twenties, I had the incredible fortune of immigrating to Canada and starting a new life. Canada’s strong principles of freedom, justice and equality have allowed me to succeed and make an honest living for my family. I believe in giving back to one’s nation and its people and there is no greater honor than doing so through public service,,” he said.
Thind’s NDP opponents were quick to take him to task on his new candidacy, saying “he has some tough questions to answer as he tries to get his campaign off the ground.”
“Unfortunately for Thind, his nomination comes just days after the Conservatives delivered a disappointing budget that completely ignored the requests from Surrey families for measures to counter gang recruitment and improve community safety,” wrote Glen Sanford of the NDP in a press release
Sanford’s press release posed these key questions for Thind:
*Will he support Surrey families and ask Harper to reverse his decision to cancel funding for the RCMP’s Community Safety Officer program?
* Will he call on Harper to take the simple step and apologize in Parliament for the Komagata Maru incident?
* Will he demand that the Harper government change its heartless immigration policies that slow down the reunification of families?
