After scoring a number of successful hits including Jassi Gill’s “Range”, songwriter Karan Aujla was at it again.  This past week his new song “Blessings of Bapu” released by Speed records and performed by Gagan Kokri went through the roof.  In just one week of the video releasing, featuring Yograj Singh as the father, it has nearly 800,000 YouTube views and the song has made it to the top ten on the Punjabi music charts.  The song has depth and personal meaning for Aujla.  It also portrays the true story about the struggles in Kokri’s life, who now lives in Australia.  He followed and pursued his dream of a better life with the blessings and support of his father.  This song recognizes the unconditional love of a father that sacrificed everything for his child. Aujla, who lives in Burnaby, wrote the initial verses of the song one morning as he was getting ready for school and making tea for himself.  “I was standing there looking at the boiling pot in the early, quiet and peaceful morning and I started thinking about my father.  I remembered everything he had done for me.  The sacrifices he had made to give me a better life.  The thoughts and connections of my joys in life were due to his sacrifices.  He made me what I am today.  The words just came naturally as I was expressing what my heart was feeling.”  Aujla is currently adding the finishing touches to his own album which is nearly complete.  He has been balancing grade 11 studies and the current project for a few months as well as shooting numerous videos which will be released in the coming months.
