Punjab Woman Who Gave Birth To Five Babies Loses Two

BATHINDA – A 32-year-old woman, Kuldip Kaur of Gidhariani village of Sangrur district, who had given birth to five females on May 5, lost two of the infants just a week after delivery at Adesh Institute of Medical Science and Research, Bathinda.

All quintuplets were breech babies, but the delivery was normal. All five infants weighed less than 1 kg (between 800 and 900 gm) and were kept under incubator in the hospital.

Doctors revealed that two of them died on May 13, while two others are in serious condition. Only one of the five infants is in healthy condition.

Mother of two daughters, Kuldip Kaur, housewife of a small farmer, was admitted to Adesh Hospital on April 30 with only 6.8 gm of haemoglobin where she gave pre-mature delivery to five more daughters.

Gynaecologist Dr Kiran Kaur confirmed the death of two infants.
