Hot of his sensational  biopic of famed auto racer Cenna director Asif Kapadia proves that not only can he navigate race track curves but also personal demons as this film so well demonstrates. Flush full of home movie footage made by Ms. Winehouse herself Amy takes a no holds barred look into the rise of a singing sensation and the men and women who would befriend her and ultimately lead to her downfall.

Life in the fast lane came too early and too easy to this North London Dynamo who managed to take the world by storm and then self-destruct through a series of missteps.  Trust a close inner circle to be front and centre of the whirlwind of turmoil that became a constant in the young woman’s life. Mix alcohol and drugs together in this hectic fast-paced world and the seeds are sowed for a not too happy ending. Hangers-on  and a prying press simply fuel the fire of an out of control woman in the limelight .

Even a bit long at two hours and eight minutes Amy does do justice to the legend and also effectively shows her singing abilities and writing  prowess
