CALGARY – The racist passenger who was caught on camera unleashing a profanity-laced racist tirade against a South Asian cab driver from Calgary has been fired from his job, his former employer announced on its website Thursday.
But this IDIOT should also be charged with a hate-crime for his one-sided vicious verbal attacks.
“At Alcro Electric we would like to acknowledge the public’s concern,” said the company. “We do not condone such behaviour and we believe in accountability. All people need to be treated with respect and dignity. This incident is not a representation of Alcro Electric. The employee involved is no longer with Alcro Electric.”
Video from a dashboard-mounted camera — obtained by Global News — appears to show the passenger unloading a verbal barrage on the driver before ripping the camera out and pushing it into the driver’s chest.
“You son-of-a-bitch, you fuc_ing (expletive), go back to where you’re from, take your wife and four kids,” the passenger yelled, among other racist and vicious profanities
The cabbie left the vehicle and later filed a complaint with police, but RCMP decided not to lay charges after the passenger — who reports say is from Airdrie, Alta. — paid for the damage.
After being contacted about the video, police said a new probe was launched and charges will be laid if there’s enough evidence.
The video was recorded in late 2013.
The video comes as the City of Calgary develops a passenger and driver bill of rights to enforce rules for appropriate conduct.
The bill includes rules around service dogs and allows taxi drives to refuse or terminate trips when “passengers become disorderly.”

Last week, the city announced that every taxi in Calgary will be required to display the bill of rights by September.
The decision comes shortly after a Calgary United Cabs driver was suspended for telling two male passengers that they couldn’t kiss in his car.
