ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to increase bilateral trade to $5 billion by the end of 2017, said adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz.
The national assembly was informed on Monday that Pakistan’s engagement with the new Afghan leadership is resulting in qualitative transformation of bilateral relations, Radio Pakistan reported.
Aziz told the house during question hour that President Ashraf Ghani places Pakistan in the first of his five areas of focus in foreign policy.
He said the government has also positively responded to Pakistan’s effort for training Afghan army soldiers and officers.
At present close to two million registered and an estimated one million undocumented Afghans are living in Pakistan.
