Surrey RCMP Hunting Two South Asian Men For Shooting Outside Surrey School

Mounties are searching for Surrey shooting suspects Shakiel Basra and Amarpreet Samra. They are believed to be armed. Samra, a 21 years old, from Richmond, and Basra, a 21 years old, from Delta, have been charged with two counts each of:  Attempt to commit murder and Intentionally discharge a firearm.

SURREY – Surrey RCMP are hunting for two young South Asian men accused in a brazen shooting that sent bullets tearing through a Surrey elementary school earlier this month.

Investigators are asking the public for help tracking down Shakiel Basra and Amarpreet Samra.

Surrey RCMP said Friday that charges have now been laid against Basra and Samra who are allegedly responsible for a shooting incident that occurred on September 15. This incident is believed to be related to the ongoing shooting conflicts that have occurred in Surrey this year.

Samra, a 21 years old, from Richmond, and Basra, a 21 years old, from Delta, have been charged with two counts each of:  Attempt to commit murder and Intentionally discharge a firearm.

Police are a looking for this style Jeep which was allegedly used by Samra and Basra.

Both individuals are currently wanted on these charges and are believed to be associated to a light coloured Jeep with Saskatchewan license plate: 685 JUD.

Samra is described as a 21 year old, South Asian male, 6’0”, 141 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. Basra is described as a 21 year old, South Asian male, 6’3”, 150 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes

A confrontation broke out between two groups on the grounds of Strawberry Hill Elementary on Sept. 15, and up to six shots were fired.

A 22-year-old man was shot, but survived.

After a vigorous investigation, the RCMP announced Friday that two 21-year-olds have been charged in the shooting, but both remain on the loose.

They are believed to be armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees the men is asked not to approach them, but urged to call 911 immediately.
