Surrey Delta Volleyball Club wins Punjabi-American Tournament

SALEM – Surrey Delta Volleyball Club won the Salem Punjabi-American Community organized annual volleyball tournament on September 20. This tournament is considered the best event in USA held by the Punjabi community.

The Surrey Delta Volleyball Club, who have been champions for the last three years, maintained their high level superiority and beat California club in the final. Total of ten teams from USA and Canada participated in this tournament. Surrey Delta team won all six matches.

Sonu Johal was declared the MVP of this prestige event. Amaan Brar was nominated the best setter of this tournament. Chris Singh was the most appreciated player by spectators. Winners were awarded with cash prizes and trophies.

Salem has a small Punjabi community who are mostly business orientated. They are excited to promote volleyball amongst younger generation. Delicious Mexican and Punjabi buffet food was provided to all players and spectators. Vancouver (Washington) sports committee collaborated with Salem committee to help them financially and to organize this event. Credit goes to Surrey Team manager Jaggit Bassi who contribute lots his valuable time to organize this great club.
