ABOHAR – The Aam Aadmi Party today held its maiden rally in the area, which was attended by residents of Abohar and Balluana segments.

Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann, during his 55-minute speech, struck emotional chord with the audience, besides sharing some lighter moments with them.

AAP state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur, Delhi leader Sanjay Singh and Faridkot MP Sadhu Singh blamed “faulty” policies of the Akali Dal-BJP alliance for ruining the agricultural economy and industry of the state.

They said most of the villages were previously known for their celebrated soldiers and sportspersons, but now these were identified by drug traffickers and anti-social elements. The leaders said Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Bharatiya Kisan Union president Ajmer Singh Lakhowal had been crying hoarse when some debt-ridden farmers committed suicide during the Congress regime, but they were now silent even as two farmers ended their life almost every day.

The government sacked Director, Agriculture Department, for bulk purchase of spurious pesticide worth Rs33 crore, but the deal had the approval of Agriculture Minister Tota Singh and the CM, they alleged.

They said people had lost faith in political leaders who were behaving more like businessmen.
