SANGRUR – A 27-year-old debt-ridden farmer, Gursewak Singh, of Cheema Mandi, about 15 km from Sunam, allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in his field last evening. He is survived by his wife and a four-year-old daughter.
Kulwinder Singh, a relative of the deceased, said Gursewak was under a debt. Besides, his standing paddy crop was also damaged due to hailstones recently. Due to this, he was under stress for the past sometime.
