ABOHAR – The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday nabbed an Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) for taking Rs 3,000 as bribe from a small farmer to get a case against him dropped.

Gurcharan Singh of Nahranwali village had informed the ACB that his neighbours had in 2008 got a case registered under the SC/ST Act against him following a minor clash. Even when most of the witnesses turned hostile, APP Davinder Bishnoi was allegedly asking him to pay Rs 3,000 to get the case quashed.

The ACB sleuths verified the complaint and laid a trap this afternoon. When Gurcharan gave chemically treated currency worth Rs 3,000 to Davinder near the old Civil Hospital complex, the ACB team swung into action. Apprehending trouble, Davinder fled from the scene on his motorcycle. Later, the ACB team spotted Davinder in a court complex. But, scores of lawyers tried to prevent the arrest. The ACB team asked Davinder to put hands in a water bowl. His hands reportedly left chemical and the water turned red, following which the protesters relented and allowed the police to arrest him.
