RCMP are hunting for a man suspected of trying to force his way into the home of a 15-year-old girl in Surrey on Friday.

Officers were called to the 13300 block of Sutton Place at approximately 2:15 p.m. PT amid reports of an attempted home invasion, after the man approached the girl outside her home.

According to police, after speaking to the girl, the man tried to enter her home without her consent. A struggle ensued, during which the girl shouted for help, causing the man to flee in his car.

The girl was not injured but was left “emotionally distraught” according to a police news release.  Unable to identify the suspect, police have released a composite image and are appealing to the public for help.

“We do not believe this to be a random act and as a result have taken steps to ensure the victim’s safety out of an abundance of caution,” said Cpl. Scotty Schumann.

“Anyone with further information about this individual or incident is asked to contact our investigators.”

The suspect is described as South Asian, aged between 25 and 30 years old, approximately five feet eight inches tall, with a medium build and unkempt black hair.

He was wearing a long-sleeved black jacket with blue jeans and sandals. The suspect’s vehicle is described as an older model, compact, black car, possibly a Honda Civic.

Suspect sought following attempted home invasion

Surrey RCMP is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying and

locating a suspicious male after an attempted home invasion involving a

15 year old female victim occurred this past Friday.

On Friday, November 6th at approximately 2:15pm, Surrey RCMP responded

to a report of an attempted home invasion involving a 15 year old female

victim in the 13300 block of Sutton Place. An unknown male suspect had

approached the young female outside her home and, after speaking to her,

attempted to enter her home by force without her consent. A minor

struggle ensued at the doorway where the female called out for help. The

male subsequently fled the property in his vehicle as a result. The

young female victim was not injured, but obviously emotionally

distraught.

Investigators canvassed the neighbourhood for additional information

including speaking to possible witnesses in the area.  Investigators

have been unable to identify this male suspect and are appealing to the

public for their assistance.
