LUDHIANA – The 2,300 gm of cocaine seized yesterday was meant for a rave party to be held in Delhi, said Police Commissioner Paramraj Umranangal. He said the contraband was smuggled from across the border and that the smugglers possibly had links with terror outfits. “The accused are being questioned on the matter,” he said.
Sources said the names of many Delhi-based event organisers had come up during the investigation of the case. Prem Singh, CIA in charge, who nabbed the drug peddlers, said the local police were sharing the information with the Narcotic Control Bureau. He said the three accused would be taken to a joint interrogation centre in Amritsar for further investigation. The National Investigation Agency has also been alerted about the case.
The state government, along with then BSF DIG MF Farooqui, have cracked down on drug smuggling in the recent past. In over a year, nearly 18 Pakistani smugglers have been killed and over 400 kg of contraband seized by the BSF.
