MOGA – Additional District and Sessions Gurjant Singh today sentenced gangster Mandeep Dhruv and three of his associates Karnail Singh, Gurmail Singh and Jaswinder Singh to life imprisonment for murder. They were convicted of murdering Rashpal Singh, the then sarpanch of Daudhar village, and his private gunman Jeet Singh on April 22, 2010.
Dhruv has allegedly been involved in many contract killings and extortions in the area. At least five cases of murder were registered against Dhruv and his associates in Ludhiana, Moga and Barnala districts.
He, along with his associates, was arrested by the Moga police from Talwandi Sabo a few weeks after the incident. Many of his gang members are reportedly still active in the area.
