FARIDKOT – Jarnail Singh, who was allegedly beaten up by supporters of SAD minister Sikander Maluka on November 20, today lodged a complaint with the Bathinda SSP.

The 65-year-old man of Hamirgarh village in Bathinda, is under treatment at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital. He has asked the SSP to register a criminal case against Maluka, his alleged supporters and some police officers who were “witness” to his merciless beating for over two hours.

The SSP office has denied having received any such complaint. On the other hand in a criminal case registered against Jarnail Singh at Dialpura police station in Bathinda, he has been accused of assault, obstructing and deterring a public servant from discharge of his duty.

The FIR against him was registered on the complaint of Kuldeep Chand, personal assistant to Maluka. In his complaint to SSP through his lawyer, Jarnail Singh alleged some supporters of Maluka assaulted him brutally at his behest as soon as he stood up to speak to the minister during a rally at Hamirgarh village.

He alleged: “I was beaten up mercilessly for over two hours until I became unconscious in the presence of some Akali leaders and some police officers who were escorting the minister. No one came to my rescue.” He demanded action against a police officer for being a mute spectator to the incident.

Kuldeep Chand alleged the man swiftly rushed towards the minister and when “we tried to stop him, he manhandled us.” In his complaint, Kuldeep alleged Jarnail was beaten up by people for his ill-behaviour.
