Grace under fire helps characterize the lead character in Joy. Score one for the ladies as this Fox Searchlight Picture shows how the underdog can come out on top. Ladies and gentleman cheer this detriments Mrs. on at Cineplex Odeon cites around B.C.

Sometimes star pairing work. For the Third time in as many years Joy gives us the coming together of Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper in another winning David O. Russell romantic comedy escapade with hints of melancholy. Steady as she goes Hudson stars as Joy Mangano. Consider this woman to be the perfect lady who is all too happy to raise her kids in her own while welcoming her rough around the edges dad back into the fold.  Crusty Robert De Niro delights as the unwieldy dad who can’t quite accept his daughter’s convictions.

Full of ideas, when the down on her luck mom strikes possible gold with a new invention all bets are off and her life, as well as those around her, takes loads of unexpected turns. Comical at times, bittersweet at others, Joy is a perfectly fitting film for the festive season. Smart writing and a comfortable cast with good chemistry helps make the film fun to watch and interesting – especially for folks struggling to get their acts together.
