CHANDIGARH – Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who had been admitted to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) after he complained of chest congestion, has been shifted from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to a private room following a “remarkable and consistent improvement in his health”, a press statement issued by Chief Minister’s Office said.

Badal had been admitted to the PGIMS last Friday after he complained of chest congestion while he was holding the fourth Sangat Darshan programme at Behlur village in Nawanshahr.

A team of doctors, led by Dr D. Behra, Head of Pulmonary Medicine, PGIMS, thoroughly examined the Chief Minister and decided to shift him to a private room, where he would be kept under observation till the infection was completely cleared from the chest, the statement said.

The doctors have expressed satisfaction over the pace of recovery the Chief Minister has shown from chest infection. They have advised not to allow visitors to meet him till he fully recovers from the infection.
