Bollywood Jatt Sunny Deol returns to form with Ghayal Once Again, asequel to his super successful Ghayal more than two decades ago.

Don’t watch too many Bollywood films, but saw Sunny Paaji’s new film thanks to my cinephile buddy Bobby Nagra, who is Sunny’s biggest fan.

I always liked those macho action outings of Sunny, the last one I saw was Singh Sahib The Great but while they are generally good in action – the story is cliché and the drama hard to swallow or comical. You wait for the beatings by Sunny Paaji to get your money’s worth!

But Ghayal surprised me because it has a very nuanced story of modern India and while its largely to do with corruption and crime by powerful business-political syndicate – Sunny has kept the story, which is also credited to him along with direction, very tight and kept the emotional connection of the audience to the drama at a maximum decibel.

And the action is top rate and would make Hollywood action directors proud and give a thrill to the fans of Jason Bourne films.

All credit here to goes to writer-director and star Sunny Deol for beautifully executed drama of a very high caliber.

I think Sunny has finally made Pappa Dharmendra and whole Deol clan proud with a truly great film.

\And Bobby Nagra’s review is Chukk Ditte Phatte, Jatta!
